Been a while since I blogged. Been keeping very very busy with my babies (for those who don't know, I have 2 - one is close to 30 and one not even 2). Both demand all my time and attention, one even gets really upset sometimes if I work too late. The other is happy enough if he has someone to care for him. You can be the best judge of who fits what bill ;-)
So - coming to the title of my blog, really this phrase gets a lot of meaning as I look at the antics of my 14 month old. Kabir started day care a couple weeks ago. He is the youngest in his class - the closest friend he has (age-wise) is about 16 months. Yet these are his teacher's exact words one time when I called up after I dropped him off, to check on if he stopped crying "He is more mad than sad which is a good thing. He stood by the door for a while getting mad when he didn't see you coming back. When I started reading stories, he stopped and listened. Once I finished story-time half-hour later, he realized he needs to get back to expressing his anger. He knows exactly what he wants and is perfectly capable of holding his own. I thought he might be intimidated by the older kids, but that's not the case at all."
During the initial 2-3 days, he would cry as I dropped him off, then stay upset for an hour or so. In the last few days, this "upset-time" has reduced. Yesterday and today, he's screamed like a banshee when I dropped him off. By the time I walked to the monitors to see how he's holding up, he's at his snack table munching away to glory! So you can imagine how smart they are - making us feel so guilty when it probably bothers them for like a minute! And here I was fretting all day about whether I am being a good mom making him cry every day.
I guess all babies know exactly how to get what they want. It's every baby's survival instinct surfacing so naturally. My baby has fun at the day care during the day and then I spend the evening trying to make up for it :-) I really wouldn't want to change that for the world.
